We welcome applicants from Sweden who would like to apply for a place here at Christ's College. We also welcome teachers and guidance counselors at schools in Sweden to get in touch if you have questions about supporting students from your school who would like to apply to Christ's College.

We recommend registering interest for the Christ's International Webinars later in the year and we also run a regular webinar on the grounds and facilities here at Christ's College. See the events page for a list of what's coming up.

Entry requirements

Typical offers for Christ's applicants taking the Examensbevis or Högskoleförberedande examen gymnasieskolan (Fullständigt / utökat program) require a total of at least 2500 points, with A grades in the majority of relevant subjects, including in three or more specified subjects.

Students taking the International Baccalaureate would normally need to achieve 42 points overall (including bonus points), with 7,7,6 in Higher Level subjects. Note that for any Cambridge course that requires Mathematics, IB students should take Higher Level Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches. See the information about taking the IB in Sweden.

Offers for Mathematics include STEP II and III. Further information about STEP and preparation support is available on the Maths page.

English Language requirements

If English is not your first language, we will look at your grades for English at school and also assess your language skills during the various elements of the Cambridge application process. We may include an English requirement in an offer if a candidate's English seems variable at interview, or in an at-interview admissions assessment. This is more common in essay-based subjects.

If you are given an English Language condition, the standard requirements are on the university website, and you would have about seven months to meet the condition after your offer is made in January.

NB. Some UK universities do routinely include TOEFL, IELTS and comparable qualifications in offers to students from Sweden, so if you already hold such a qualification, you should mention it in your UCAS application.

The application process

The application deadline is 15 October each year for entry the following October (or for deferred entry the year after). We encourage all applicants to read the information about applying on the relevant subject page, as well as the how to apply page well in advance of 15 October, as there are a number of parts to the application procedure which may take time to organise and complete:

  1. There is more than one application form.
  2. You will need a referee who can provide a reference and predicted grades for any exams that you have not yet taken.
  3. You may also need to arrange for your school to provide a transcript.
  4. If you have an early November Admissions Assessment (needed for a good number of the courses), you will need to make sure you are registered for this by the deadline. See details on the Admissions Assessments page.
  5. There are some smaller details that it is worth being aware of, such as the need to upload a photo.

Do explore the additional support pages for international applicants, and note that on 20 September Christ's publishes the current applicants section, which will support you through the next steps once you have submitted a valid application

Financial Support

Students from Sweden wishing to commence their studies in October 2022 will be eligible to apply for Christ's College International Awards (as well as the university-wide Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust Awards). The Christ's College International Awards awards are worth £10,000 per annum and may be accompanied by a full or partial waiver of the College Fee (currently £10,290 per annum).

More information is available on our page on international financial support and do also read the notes for
EU students applying in 2022 and beyond.

Where can I find out more?

Do explore the international students section in particular, and make sure you read the relevant subject page. We encourage you to register your interest for the Christ's Interational Webinars so that you get an email when we open booking for an appropriate event for students from Sweden, and you may like to also attend other online events.

Please also feel free to email Kristy, Jan and Ellie in Christ's Admissions Office (admissions@christs.cam.ac.uk) with any questions. We'll be pleased to hear from you!

We encourage prospective students from Sweden to explore the support available from Project Access Sweden if your school cannot support you with a Cambridge application. In recent years we have been pleased to meet with Swedish students at the annual Nordic Study Abroad Conference organised by the Nordic Study Abroad Community (worth a look), and we have hosted events in Christ's College itself via visits from Maths Beyond Limits. We hope that future Swedish students will consider Christ's College too!
