Some of our courses have a pre-interview Assessment, which you sit, normally at school on 3 or 4 November 2021, depending on your subject. Students applying for these courses must be registered for the assessment by the deadline as well as submitting your UCAS application (and additional form) on time.

The list of subjects with a pre-interview assessment is reviewed each year, so please be aware that there could be changes to the list below between January and July. We will update this page if there are any changes during the year.

Here are the subjects and deadlines. Note that not all Admissions Assessments are on the same date.

Who registers you?

For students at UK schools and Colleges, your school will need to register you so please liaise with the school to make sure that they know that you are applying to Cambridge for a course tha needs this. Make sure that you receive confirmation from your school that you have been registered before the deadline for your registration.

If you are not registered by the deadline

  • If you miss the 1 October BMAT and TMUA deadline it may be possible to get a late entry up to 15 October for a fee. Check BMAT dates and TMUA dates.
  • You will not be able to sit the pre-interview Assessment if you miss the 15 October registration deadline. It is not possible to register late.

If your school is not already a test centre

If you are at school or sixth form college, you would normally sit your pre-interview Admissions Assessment there if possible. If your school has had people sitting the BMAT and/or an Oxford pre-interview test before, they are automatically authorised to be a test centre for Cambridge pre-interview Assessments. If not, they need to apply to Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing to become a test centre. The approval process can take several weeks and must be completed by 30 September. See this page on becoming a test centre

If you don't have a school/college (e.g. if you're home educated), you will need to find an open authorised centre instead. Please use the find a test centre page on the on the Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing website to search the options in your area.

Disability, Specific Learning Difficulty and long-term illness

If you have a disability, Specific Learning Difficulty or long-term illness, you will need to be registered by 30 September if you need adjustments on the day of the assessment. See the Disability, Specific Learning Difficulty or long-term illness page.
